the gion district of kyoto is fantastic around the end of the day - sure... there's a lot of tourists, but it's such a beautiful place to wander around, eating octopus on a stick and window-shopping in so many beautiful shops. when the geishas are out as well, it makes you feel like you are in such a beautiful place. the women in kimonos are gorgeous, but the geishas are spectacular.
